Laurie graduated from South Tama Country High School in 1981. She then attended Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1985. For the next 32 years, she lived her dream of being a nurse at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Laurie married the love of her life, Donald J. Weiermann, of Brooklyn, Iowa, on May 26, 1984, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea. They were then blessed with three boys, Stephen J. Weiermann, Jeremy L. Weiermann and Joshua R. Weiermann.
Laurie relished traveling and watching her sons fish and play sports. She also spent many hours in her garden, which she took great pride in. Another one of her passions was photography. She loved capturing the quintessential jump shots, swings and tackles of her sons and also the perfect smile for many senior pictures that she took. Laurie was an unrivaled mom and loved her family deeply.
