Laurie Ruth McCauley, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, July 11, 2022, at her home, surrounded by family. Celebration of Life will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2736 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
Laurie was born Aug. 15, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Glenn and Lois (Schild) Losey. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1982, and was formerly married to Michael McCauley, the father of her two children. Throughout her life Laurie cared for her family while working as an accountant for Smulekoff’s, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, and the University of Iowa. She spent much of her free time baking and tending to her garden. Laurie was gracious and compassionate to her friends and family. Above all else, she loved being a mother, grandmother and caregiver to those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Matthew (Rachel) McCauley and Ellen McCauley (Cassem Aossey); grandchildren, Lillian, Faith, Autumn and Zoey; mother, Lois Wood; partner, Roger Dabler; siblings, Gwenda (Dan) Jarosh and Lyle Losey; and nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Michael, Austin and Sean.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and stepfather, Larry Wood.
