LAURETTA "LOU" (LLOYD) SERBOUSEK

Lauretta "Lou" (Lloyd) Serbousek, 76, of Swisher, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Lou was born on June 8, 1942, to Orville Lloyd and Arlene Lloyd-Sauer. She graduated from Prairie High School in the class of 1960, where she met her husband, John W. Serbousek. Lou worked in the College Community School District for 29 years as a paraprofessional. All of the students over the years always remember Lou as "the chocolate lady" who gave the best hugs in the world!
Lou is survived by her husband, John W.; two children, John (Angie) Serbousek and Kim (Curt) Cline; grandchildren, Lindsey (Mike) Meier, Sarah (Matt) Musil, Paige (Mark) Becicka, Andrew (Meghan) Serbousek, Brennan Cline, Mikaela Cline and Taylor Cline; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Brody and Caylee Meier, Luke and Levi Musil and Charleston and Sawyer Becicka; her brother, Larry Lloyd; sisters, Penny (Bud) Scolero, Kathy (Mark) McCalley, Sharon (Monte) Barton, Sandy (Monte) Rierson and Judy (Kent) Bunn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orville; stepfather, Ronald; mother, Arlene; in-laws, Myra and Leonard Serbousek; sisters, Connie Broderson and Rhonda Snow; brother, Newton Ray; sister-in-law, Rita Serbousek; and granddaughter, Madison Cline.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
