Laura A. Feldmann, 88, of Hopkinton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Riverbend Retirement Community in Cascade, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Laura may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa, where a rosary will be held at 1:45 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at the church. The Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
Services for Laura will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Baldwin presiding. Concelebrating will be the Rev. Lyle Wilgenbusch and the Rev. John Kramer. Burial will be held in the Hopkinton Cemetery.
She was born March 2, 1930, in Hopkinton, Iowa, daughter of Nicholas and Rose (Atkinson) Wilgenbusch. On Nov. 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Arthur Feldmann at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa. The couple farmed in the rural Hopkinton area. She was a great mother, seamstress, baker and farm partner. She also was an in-home caretaker for a quadriplegic for many years.
She was a member of St. Luke Parish in Hopkinton and the Clio Kensington Club, for which she served as secretary.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Feldmann of Cascade, Iowa; her children, Bill Feldmann (special friend, Nan Strandberg) of Anamosa, Ken (Carla) Feldmann of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Jane (David) Goldsmith of Earlville, Mike (Rosemary) Feldmann of Hopkinton, Steve (Jane) Feldmann of Cedar Rapids, Kathy (Dick) Offermann and Karen (Joe) Nefzger both of Earlville, Barb (Ron) Weber of Farley, and Patricia (Doug) Steger of Delhi; 45 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Robert Kirpes, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Rita Feldmann, of Edgewood.
She is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jarad Weber and William Feldmann Jr.; one great-grandchild, Jackson Berlin; her brothers, Frank, Thomas, John and Herman Wilgenbusch; and nine sisters, Mabel Guthrie, Viola Trumm, Myrtle Krogmann, Gladys Kirby, Ethel Kenny, Rose Britt, Mary Lauersdorf, Elsie Ries, and their spouses, and Alice Kirpes.
