Lattner, Paul J.
Paul J. Lattner, 65, of Kewanee, Ill., formerly of Bankston, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee. The family will greet friends and relatives of Paul from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a Scripture wake service begins at 4 p.m. and Our Lady's Youth Prayer Group Rosary at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Clement's Church in Bankston, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating and the Rev. Joseph McDermott SVD concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Paul was born July 25, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Myrene (Rauen) Lattner. He attended the former East Troy Minor Seminary School for four years and graduated with the St. Joseph's High School class of 1963. He also attended Loras College.
Paul remained a member of St. Clement's Catholic Church and his faith was always very important to him. Even though he carried a heavy cross of multiple illnesses his entire life he always knew that death would bring liberation for him in that he would be free of the constraints he experienced in his body. His suffering brought great meaning to his life.
Survivors include his mother, Myrene Lattner of Bankston; two brothers, David (Carol) Lattner of Waterloo and Joseph (Peg) Lattner of Bankston; two sisters, Donna (Ronald) Huberty of Dyersville and Sister Mary Ishmael Lattner of the Sancta Clare Monastery; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Lattner on Jan. 24, 1997; and his grandparents, Wilfred and Mary Lattner and Paul and Mary Rauen.
A Paul J. Lattner memorial fund has been established.
