Lasansky, Emilia B.
Emilia B. Lasansky, 92, of Iowa City, died peacefully Tuesday morning at home surrounded by family. A family committal service has been held at Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Foundation, 1 W. Park Rd., Iowa City, IA 52242 for University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
Emilia was born March 18, 1917, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the daughter of Luis and Pilar Barragan. Emilia was united in marriage to Mauricio Lasansky on Dec. 16, 1937. They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary this year. Emilia and Mauricio were partners in every part of their lives, always loving and respectful of each other.
She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband; and their six children: William (Jeannette) Lasansky of Lewisburg, Pa., and their daughter, Diana; Rocio “Nina” (Alan) Weinstein of Iowa City and their children, Rachel, Anna, Daniel and Adam; Leonardo Lasansky of St. Paul, Minn., and his son, Amadeo; Jimena Lasansky and William Sepe of Rockport, Maine and their son, Richie; Phillip (Lori) Lasansky and their sons, Emiliano and Diego, and Thomas (Charlie) Lasansky and their son, Rory, all of Iowa City; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Julio (Nieves) Barragan of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Emilia was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Luis.
The family would to thank Camila Talamilla and all the others who assisted with her care.
