Betty's birth date was Aug. 7, 1924, to parents Peter and Mildred Chadim, just four miles outside of Marion, Iowa. She was married to John C. Dutcher (1948) and they had three children, Laura, Steve and Pat. Betty remarried later in life to Clarence Larson, who passed away in 1994.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mildred Chadim; brothers, Robert and Joe Chadim; and Clarence Larson.
Survivors include her children, Laura Jones, Steve Dutcher and Pat Dutcher; granddaughter, Mindy Dutcher; and grandson, Wade Avis, of Cedar Rapids; her stepchildren, Tom Larson of Cedar Rapids and Judy (Paul) Pierce of Lincoln, Neb.; stepgrandchildren, Ian and LeighAnn Pierce and Christopher (Sasha) Larson, Katharina (Josh) Sherrill and Kimberley Larson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Benjamin and Vanessa Larson and Hailey Sherrill; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a hard working woman who had a great amount of dignity and perseverance. She enjoyed traveling and adventures, her love of the outdoors, which included her gardening, but especially fishing at the Mississippi River with Cliff (a long lifetime friend), and Pat's pond. Betty's zest for life, sense of humor, opinions and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty's family would like to express gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Zenk, St. Luke's Hospice, the fifth floor nursing staff at St. Luke's Hospital and Murdoch Funeral Home. There are so many to thank and your support has been very generous and grateful. We cannot thank you enough for all you have done for Betty. To all the family and friends, your support and friendship throughout Betty's illness, again, cannot express our appreciation.
