Larson, Barbara V.
Barbara V. Larson, 71, of Clinton, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at her home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Barbara donated her body to science at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Barbara V. Putnam was born on May 16, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Winnifred (Hauser) Putnam. She married Paul Larson on August 7, 1960, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora, he died Sept. 11, 1985.
Barb was a 1956 graduate of Eldora High School and also graduated from St. Luke's Nursing Program in Cedar Rapids in 1959.
Barb was employed as a nurse at Medical Associates for Dr. Dale Weber for many years and also Dr. Ron Vidal. She was also a nurse for the American Red Cross and Mercy Hospital.
Barb loved crossword puzzles, cross stitching, playing cards and was the ultimate grandma.
Barb is survived by her mother, Winnifred Crosley of Eldora; three daughters, Lori (Gerry) Freudenberg of Clinton, Molli (Bob) Cunningham of Cedar Rapids, and Kari (Bob) Myers of Siloam Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Anne, Zach, Alex, Madison, Kate and Robbie; one brother, Dennis Putnam of Waianae, Hawaii; one sister, Pamela (Bob) Kauffman of Grayslake, Ill.; nephew, David (Brooke) Kauffman of Crystal Lake, Ill., and their children, Zoe, Max and Sam; and three stepsisters, Dixie Harrington of Davenport, Tamma Gaynor of Pleasant Hill, and Polly (Dave) Granzow of Eldora.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband and her father, Beecher Crosley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Clinton Community School District Foundation for a scholarship in Barb's name.
