Lars J. Larson, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private family burial will be at a later date at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa.
Survivors include his children, April (Jason Pospisil) Larson and Sally (Jon) Beronich, both of Cedar Rapids, and Jay (Tammy) Larson of Show Low, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jakob and Parker Beronich and Gracie and Winny Larson; siblings, Linda (Kermit) Uhde of Ottumwa, Julia (David) Dillehay of Council Bluff and Jon (Michelle) Larson of Bowling Green, Mo.; and best friend, Craig (Donna) Bender of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lars was born Aug. 14, 1954, in Ottumwa, Iowa, son of Warren and Elizabeth "Bette" (MacKenzie) Larson. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1972. He married Connie Jo Moore on Feb. 9, 1974; they later divorced. Lars moved to Cedar Rapids to work for Rockwell Goss then later was a machinist for Borlaug System for 20 years until he retired.
He enjoyed golfing and hanging out with his friends.
