Larry G. Wolfe, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday Oct. 15, at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Larry is survived by his wife, Annette; daughters, Lori (Danny) Boyd, Christine (Jay) McGuire and Wendy (Ron) Coffin; six grandchildren, Deana (Mike) Dvorak, Michelle (Shannon) Gonzalez, Sara (Mike) Alderson, Andrew (Crystal) McGuire, Emily (Shawn) Pettit and Erica Coffin; 11 great-grand-children; sisters, Bea Fulwider and Jo Lawrence; and brothers, Mike and Rob Wolfe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anita Eliason; two infant brothers; and mother-in-law, Florance Abbott.
Larry was born March 12, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, to William T. and A. Louise (Tribbey) Wolfe. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1957. Larry married Annette "Happy" Abbott on April 4, 1959, in Iowa City. Larry enjoyed polka music and whenever possible would go to see Barefoot Becky perform. Larry enjoyed his weekly dinners at Mid-town with his sister and brothers and anyone else who was able to come.
Larry's favorite hobby was drag racing his 1970 Plymouth Duster. He was always there to lend a hand or just listen whether you were friend or family. He enjoyed many weekends with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teasing and playing with them.
Larry worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 21 years and then ACT Inc. in Iowa City before his retirement. Larry worked many second jobs, driving coal truck, tow truck, school bus and garbage truck, but his favorite was driving dump truck for Ken Dale.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
