Larry T. Sillman, 81, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids.
Larry was born May 21, 1935, the son of Henry and Mary (Hindes) Sillman. He served in the Air National Guard for nine years. Larry worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years.
He loved spending time outdoors whether camping and boating with friends or riding the motorcycle. Other hobbies included woodworking and spending time at the Rockwell rec center.
Larry was a family man; when his children were younger, he would spend time with them tobogganing at Jones Park, riding horses, and taking them to the drive-in movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish Larry's memories are his wife of 60 years, Marcy Sillman; children, Mark (Cindy) Sillman, Susan (Jeff) Rager, Carol (Ben) Ampulski and Paul (Michelle) Sillman; sisters, Mary Jo Jennings and Louise (Bill) Cowles; grandchildren, Michelle, Mike, Rebecca, Christopher, Wesley, Jenna, Nicholas, Jordan, Anthony, Ike, Mason, Austin and Skyler; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
