Larry P. Schultz, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
Larry was born June 16, 1941, southeast of Sigourney, Iowa, in Keokuk County to William and Neva (Fowler) Schultz. He attended Sigourney schools before the family moved to a farm near Richland, Iowa.
He graduated from Richland in 1959. Larry was active in football and track while in high school. After graduation, he worked for a year in road construction and then worked for Peter Pan Bakers in 1963. He spent 33 years as a route salesman for Peter Pan, Trausch Baking, Metz Baking and Sara Lee, from which he retired in 1996. Larry then spent nine years with Arby's Restaurant in eastern Iowa doing maintenance. He married Sharon Heiserman in 1961, and to this union three children were born: Greg (Doreen) Schultz, Tracy (Sean) McGonagle and Teri (Darin) Harmon. They later divorced. Larry married Vicky Gintert in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Helen, Lois, Dorothy and Mary Ellen.
Larry is survived by his wife, Vicky; three children; stepson, Eric (Corinne) Gintert; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Martha) Schultz.
Graveside services: 11 a.m Tuesday, March 21, at East Bethel Cemetery, rural Sigourney. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
