LARRY KRUTZFIELD
Anamosa
Larry D. Krutzfield, 63, of Anamosa, died peacefully June 24, 2014, at Jones County Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at First Congregational Church of Anamosa, with inurnment in Madison Cemetery, Center Junction. Officiating will be the Rev. Greg Griffin.
Larry was born Feb. 4, 1951, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mary (Paulsen) Krutzfield. He married Marie Gray on Aug. 21, 1971, in Center Junction. Larry began working with his dad at Krutzfield Trucking and eventually bought his dad's interest in the company. He worked at Frontier Feeds for six years and has been working for the City of Anamosa for the last 15 years.
Larry especially enjoyed spending time with Marie, who was his wife and best friend, and his family. He was a baseball fan who not only went to watch the Kernels, but also especially loved his grandchildren's games. He went on the occasional fishing trip and spent a lot of free time washing cars, mowing his yard and feeding his squirrels and birds. He could be seen driving around town on his "Harley," a silver moped.
Larry had a quick wit and could pull off a one-liner like no one else. His laugh and smile were contagious.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Marie; two children, Amy (fiance Josh Elliott) Buffington of New London, Iowa, and Shawn (Brian) Pierce of West Branch; three grandchildren, Addison Buffington, Lucas and Alyssa Pierce; one sister, Dorothy Cruise of Olin; one brother, LeRoy (Sherry) Krutzfield of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Gray of Anamosa; one sister-in-law, Helen Busch of Williamsburg; one brother-in-law, Bob (Deb) Gray of Center Junction; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy (John) Wawro; a brother-in-law, Lavern Cruise; his father-in-law, Robert Gray; and his dog, Rascal.
