Larry John was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, on Dec. 6, 1949, the son of John and Pauline (Vesely) Dvorak. He graduated from South Tama High School in 1968. Following high school, Larry went to work at various jobs. On Dec. 20, 1975, Larry married Nancy Ann Yuska at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Traer. Together the couple lived across the road from the family farm which Larry grew up on and the old York No. 9 school grounds. Larry and Nancy continued to farm the ground following the passing of his father in 1985. Larry also worked for John Deere Engine Works for 30 years. After his retirement in 2003, he fulfilled a dream of becoming a semi owner/operator. This was leased to Zline Trucking of Toledo for nine years. Over the last couple years Larry had been working for Benda Ag of Elberon, which he truly enjoyed.
Larry enjoyed raising Long Horn/Angus Cattle. He would take weekend trips with Nancy traveling to Oklahoma to cattle auctions. He was a big NASCAR fan; his drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Larry would often travel to Iowa Speedway where he would spend time with his family. He liked splitting firewood, camping, the Chicago Bears, John Deere tractors (most particular were his 4030 and John Deere A), but most of all Larry loved spending time with his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Mike (Rhonda) Dvorak of Gardner, Kan., and Curt (Jody) Dvorak of Dexter; granddaughter, Mila; mother, Pauline Dvorak, of Keystone; sister, Sandra Husak of Gilman; and basset hound, Burph Dog.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; brother-in-law, Melvin Husak; and basset hounds, Camille and Bertha.
