LARRY DEAN WHITE
Des Moines
Larry Dean White, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed peacefully on Sunday, Fe. 27, 2022, from complications of renal disease at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola.
Larry was born on June 7, 1943, to Edna and Hughie White in rural Calhoun, Mo. After completing high school, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served proudly in the 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels").
Shortly after his discharge, Larry relocated to Cedar Rapids, where he would meet and marry Anita Benter. They would later divorce. Anita preceded Larry in death in 2015. Larry is survived by a son, Bob (Becky) Peery, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (all in the Cedar Rapids area). Larry is also survived by a daughter, Susan (Malinda Wade) White of Des Moines.
Per Larry's wishes, there will be no public service or memorial. Larry will be laid to rest with military honors at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Larry requested that donations be made to the animal rescue or welfare organization of one's choosing in lieu of flowers or cards.
Larry's family wishes to express special gratitude for the extraordinary caregivers at Good Samaritan in Indianola, and especially the team at Hospice of the Midwest, who made Dad's final journey comfortable.
