Larry Dean Krusie, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A visitation will be Sunday, May 6, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Following the service, burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Larry Dean Krusie was born on Dec. 8, 1934, the son of Louis and Tressa (Folton) Krusie. He graduated from Lena High School in Lena, Ill. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Jean Edith Fishburn on Sept. 6, 1958, in Freeport, Ill. Larry's passion was building, restoring and repairing pipe organs. He apprenticed with Richard Dirksen, owner of the Freeport Organ Co., and later purchased the company in partnership with Donald Diestelmeier. He was a member of the Elks Club and the American Guild of Organists. He enjoyed fishing with his kids and later his grandchildren, and dearly loved spending time with his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louis Krusie.
Left to cherish Larry's memories are his wife, Jean Krusie of Cedar Rapids; children, Steve (Kathy) Krusie of Indianapolis, Ind., Richard (Lisa) Krusie of Marion and Laura (Paul) Williams of Cedar Rapids; and seven grandchildren, Megan (Bill) Winfrey, Jason Krusie, Jamie (Corey) Moore, Mason Krusie, Shelby Williams, Bonnie Williams and Tamra Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church toward the new organ in Larry's name.
