Larry Dean Huedepohl passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, at the age of 80. Larry often said, especially during his recent illness and hospitalization, that he "was in the Lord's hands." Now he is in the presence of his Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; four children, Jerilyn (Justin) Lundberg of Williamsburg, Kathy Huedepohl of Iowa City, Marie Huedepohl of Portland, Ore., and Brendan (Kelly) Huedepohl of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Rachel Lundberg, Jessica Lundberg, John Lundberg, Anna Lundberg and William "Liam" Huedepohl; a brother, Robert (Edie) Huedepohl of Williamsburg; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Schultz of Parker, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Suzanne Schultz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at St. John Lutheran Church near Homestead. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Harvest Baptist Church in Williamsburg. Memorials are for St. John Lutheran Church General Fund, Lutheran Interparish School in Williamsburg or HACAP in Hiawatha. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for Larry and his family. In accordance with his wishes and out of concern for protecting those who are medically vulnerable, Larry's family respectfully asks that friends and family attending the visitation or funeral wear face masks and practice social distancing while gathered in remembrance.
