Larry Charles Hansel, 70, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
He was born April 20, 1948, in Manchester, the son of Francis and Jeanette (Hill) Hansel. Larry was raised and educated in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School in 1966. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
On Oct. 28, 1972, Larry was united in marriage to Mary Goedken at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lamont. Three children were born to this union. In 1994, Larry graduated from Upper Iowa University. Larry was the owner of Hansel Enterprises and was an independent distributor for the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
Larry was an avid reader and enjoyed his computer. He also liked gardening. His family was very important to Larry and he cherished spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Hansel of Manchester; three children, Chris (Tiffany) Hansel, Rachel (Adam) Lewin and T.J. Hansel (fiancée, Megan Offerman), all of Manchester; four grandchildren, Vance Deutmeyer, Zander Hansel and Carlie and Alex Lewin; his sister, Joyce Hansel of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Wanda Hansel of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jean Hahesy; and his brother, Jim Hansel.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, where there will be a 4 p.m. scripture service. Friends also may call one hour before Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment with military rites at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
