Laningham, Joanne M.
Joanne M. Laningham, 75, of Scotch Grove, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, following a brief illness. Private family services will be held Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services.
Surviving are three sons, Steve and Richard, both of Scotch Grove, and Doug of Brooklyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George on Sept. 14, 1995; and a brother, Gary.
Joanne M. McPherran was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Zelna (Winters) McPherran. Joanne received her education in the Garwin, Iowa schools. She then started working at Rath Packing Plant in Waterloo. Joanne McPherran and George Laningham were married Sept. 4, 1955, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple lived near Fairfax and Joanne worked at Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids. In 1958, they moved to a farm near Ryan. In 1976, they moved to a farm near Central City and Joanne started cooking at the Abbe Center. She retired from Abbe Center in 1995. In 1994, the couple had moved to their farm east of Scotch Grove, where Joanne lived until moving to the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2004.
