Langhurst, Arling K.
Arling K. Langhurst, 92, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in his home with his family at his side. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arling was born July 25, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, to Fred and Eva (Chalupsky) Langhurst.
Survivors include his sons, Gary (Marilyn), Val (Jude) and Matt (Gail); a daughter, Connie (Gary) Tisl; grandchildren, Paul, Kristi, Regina, Andrea, Jay, Vanessa, Zowi, Max and Allison; and many great-grandchildren.
His wife, Gladys “Dee” DeBoth Langhurst passed away Nov. 9, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and nine brothers and sisters, Lydia, Edward, Gladys Miller, Fred, Charles, Louis, Florence Bailey, Ray and Lillian Wessale.
Arling retired from ADM Corn Sweeteners in 1978, as vice president of engineering, after having designed two bulk processing corn plants. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
