Lange, William 'Bill' Henry
William “Bill” Henry Lange, 66, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, with the Rev. Sue Ann Raymond officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. Casketbearers will be: Brian Lange, Bill Lange, Nathan Prouty, Mike Prouty, John Roberts and Bruce Doran. Interment will be in Fremont Township cemetery north of Winthrop.
Bill was born August 13, 1943, at Independence, the son of William E. and Sadie E. Luloff Lange. He grew up on an acreage north of Winthrop, attended and graduated from East Buchanan High School with the class of 1961. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served in the Seabees in Vietnam until 1967 when he was honorably discharged. He returned to work at the Square D plant in Cedar Rapids. He was a machinery setup technician for many years until his retirement in 2002.
Bill loved spending time with his family. He always arrived promptly at two in the afternoon at the Time Out Lounge to enjoy a beer with his friends. He was proud of his military service and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his son, Brian (Kristin) Lange of Cedar Rapids and their children, Kimberlin, Nathan and Haley; his daughter, Gwen (John) Roberts of Fort Dodge and their children, JJ, Billy, Tucker and Sadie; his sister, Shirley (Bob) Doran of Fort Worth, Texas; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bill and Sadie Lange; and his brother, Jim.
