Lang, Kenneth W.
Kenneth W. Lang, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the West Village Care Center, in Independence, on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012. Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Bob Solon. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, with military honors by the Shellsburg American Legion.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his first, wife, Lois who died in 1980; his second wife, Maxine who died in 2003; and his brother, Shirley.
Survivors include his children, David (Alana) Lang of Apple Valley, Calif., Bert (Betty) Lang of Rowley, Constance (Mike) Fowler of Greenville, S.C. and Karen (Tim) Lindstrom of Columbia Heights, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and Maxine's children, Richard, Marilyn, Carol and their families.
Born June 14, 1919, in Cavalier, N.D., Kenneth was the son of Stanley and Margaret (Turner) Lang. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed for over 20 years in Minnesota and for 19 years was a drill press operator for Nissen Company in Cedar Rapids.
Kenneth's joys were gardening, photography and playing the harmonica.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kenneth's memory.
