Lanfier, Willine Lucella French Cavey
Willine Lucella French Cavey Lanfier, 90, of Wyoming, Iowa, died Dec. 27, 2013 in Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa. A memorial service will be at a later date.
Willine is survived by many loving family members - her four children, Shelley French Davis (David), Texas, William French, Wyoming, Laverne Cavey, Colorado, and Patrick Cavey (Pam), Mechanicsville; 10 grandchildren, Ann Cavey Jameson (Jack), Missouri, Jamie Cavey, Des Moines, Kelsie Cavey, New York, Jason Cavey, Iowa City, Jared Cavey, Colorado, Melissa Cavey Gurley, (Brian), Colorado, Mikaya Cavey, Colorado, Macklyn Cavey, Colorado, Morgan Davis Gieringer (Tim), Texas, and Allegra Davis, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Bryn Gurley, Colorado, and Ella and Max Jameson, Missouri. Willine also leaves behind her sister, Emily French Boots, and her brother, Emil French, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will all miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Lanfier. Willine had a great love of the out-of-doors and passed on that love to her children and grandchildren. She had large gardens of irises and lilies and she shared them with family and friends. She was an avid bird watcher and set up habitats at both her home in Muscatine and in Wyoming, sharing her knowledge and love of birds with her family.
Willine attended the Wyoming Methodist Church and had served as a volunteer for its food pantry.
She loved to read and worked cross word puzzles up until her recent hospitalization. Willine loved to travel and had visited more than half of the 50 states as well as Mexico. Two of her favorite trips were attending the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter and the United States Bicentennial Celebration in Washington, D.C. She was also a very avid Hawkeye women's basketball fan and shared her love of the team and the sport with her grandchildren.
The family asks memorials be made to Above and Beyond Hospice or American Cancer Society.
