LANDIS THOMPSON
Stone City
Landis Kent Thompson, 65, of Stone City, passed on to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, which ended his battle with cancer. He was adamant that he wanted this time to be a celebration of his life, instead of a sad mourning of his death. So in that spirit we hope that you be present and love those close to you.
A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, Marion, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.
Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends for a Celebration of Life at Thomas Park, Marion.
Landis is survived by his wife, Lois of Stone City; children, Landis Thompson and Kirsten (Chris) Economy; and sisters, Claudia Burk, Judith Hoevet and Charlene Thormodsgard. Also surviving are many loving family members and friends.
Landis was born Jan. 1, 1951, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Dr. Wallace and Mildred (Taylor) Thompson. He graduated from Ralston High School in Nebraska and Carthage College in Wisconsin. He then spent two years at Wartburg Seminary. On Sept. 13, 1975, in Grand Island, Neb., he married Lois Griffin. Landis was employed at J.C. Penney and American Family Insurance.
He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Marion Masonic Lodge No. 6 and Stone City Foundation.
