Lampe, Ruth H.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth H. Lampe, 94, of Washington, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Halycon House, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside, with Father David Brownfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellman Public Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, where a rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m.
Ruth Helen Lampe was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Charleston, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Lake) Kramer. She was united in marriage to Ernest Lampe on Jan. 20, 1942, at St Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.
Ruth was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman and the Altar and rosary Society. She enjoyed playing golf, raising her family, being outside on the farm with Ernie and crocheting and quilting.
Survivors include nine children and spouses: Arthur (Kathleen) Lampe of Denver, Colo., Mary (Daniel) Reed of South English, Dorothy (Gary) Davis of Washington, Iowa, Paul Lampe of Mount Pleasant, Darlene (Randy) Payne of Washington, Dale Lampe of Keota, Fred (Teresa) Lampe of Wellman, Donald (Lorrie) Lampe of Muscatine and Dennis (Ann) Lampe of Riverside; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sally Rippenkroeger of Fort Madison and Rosemary Boyer of Franklin, Iowa.
Preceding Ruth were her husband, Ernest; an infant son and daughter; one grandson; a daughter-in-law, Paula Lampe; three brothers, Alfred, Leonard and Maurice Kramer; and three sisters, LaVern Kramer, Bertha Kalteflerter and Martha Fraiser.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman and Halycon House.
