Lamparek, Ivan Joe
Ivan Joe Lamparek, 75, of Swisher, passed away peacefully in his home, Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Teahen Chapel, Walford, by Pastor Craig Bex. Burial: Castek Cemetery, Swisher. Friends may visit today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Chapel, Walford, and again Monday after 9:30 a.m.
Ivan is survived by two sons, Rick (Renee) Lamparek of Marengo and Randy (Mandie) Lamparek of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Rae Lynn (Bret) Lamparek of Swisher; five grandchildren, Ben, Megan, Lukas, Hannah and Abigail; sister, Sadie (Dale) Feye, and brother, Leo Lamparek, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard Lamparek; and sister-in-law, Leota Lamparek.
Ivan was born April 2, 1934, in Johnson County, the son of Ben and Anna Herman Lamparek. He served in the Army from October 1956 to October 1958. Ivan farmed for many years in Johnson County. Starting in 1973, he worked for Kiracofe Oil Co. for over 25 years. After semi retiring he began working with his daughter for eight years at her business, the Swisher Gas-N-Go. Ivan truly was a people person and he enjoyed socializing with the many customers whom he considered family.
He was a fan of the Vikings, Hawkeyes and Celtics. He also loved going to casinos and playing cards. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, taking daily walks and doing crossword puzzles. Ivan will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and being full of life. He never complained and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Ivan was always there to lend a hand. He was a humble man devoted to being a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed. He was truly a wonderful dad.
