Lamb, Doris L.
Doris L. Lamb, 86, of 3725 Oakland Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, after a long illness. Services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Newcomb (Jack) of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Michael Wilsey of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Lisa) Lamb of Marion; a sister, Betty Knipper; and a brother, Carl Martens, both of Edgewood.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kelly Konicek, Joe and Amber Kirchhoff, Todd and Matthew Cinkan and Justin, Trenton and Quinn Lamb; eight great-grandchildren; and special friends she always traveled with, Betty McCormick and Ellen Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Cheryl; and two sisters, Marie and an infant sister, Donna Belle.
Doris was born on June 1, 1926, in Hopkinton, the daughter of Henry and Katie Bowers Martens. She married Howard Wilsey in 1946 in Edgewood. They were later divorced. She later married Earl A. Lamb on Jan. 7, 1960 in Davenport. He died in 1973. Doris worked in the packaging department at National Oats for over 35 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Doris enjoyed traveling, photography and family gatherings. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
