Lalla, John 'Jack' F.
John “Jack” F. Lalla, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Deacon Mike Klappholz. A private family burial will take place Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Friends may visit with the family after 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his brother, Joseph R. (Suzanne) Lalla of Raeford, N.C. and their daughter, Caroline Lalla; sister-in-law, Pat Lalla and her children, Joe (Vicki) Lalla, Jim Lalla, John Lalla, Miranda Lalla, and Jason Lalla; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends at Emergency Management Association.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vince; nephew, James Lalla; and niece, Anne Lalla.
John Francis Lalla was born May 26, 1939 in Iowa City, the son of Vincent and Pearl Marie (Riche) Lalla. Jack served his country in the Army. He was a Cedar Rapids Police Officer for 27 years and also worked as Volunteer Coordinator for EMA. Jack also served as commander of the Iowa Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Jack's honor.
