Lagerquist, Wilbur R.
Wilbur R. Lagerquist, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Family and friends will gather from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with prayers and a time of sharing at 2:30 p.m. by Pastor Dan Clark-Bridges.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; brothers, Paul (Lucille) of Apache Junction, Ariz., Clifford (Lydia) of St. Paul, Minn., and Earl (Barb) of Marion; sisters-in-law, Nadine Anderson of Sumner and Patricia Lagerquist of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also surviving are very special friends, Dan (Wendy) Hill of Vinton, Audrey Hill of Cedar Rapids and Keith and Shirley Drexler of Cedar Rapids.
Wilbur was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harry and Anna Dorthea (Nielsen) Lagerquist. He attended Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. On July 8, 1962, he married Sharon Fellows at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Wilbur worked in the printing industry in Cedar Rapids for 55 years.
He will be most remembered for his ability to fix, build and repair most anything. Wilbur loved to tinker with projects, always inventing new ways to do things better. He enjoyed restoring antiques, working in his yard, and spending time with his dogs.
Wilbur was a member of the Cedar Valley Street Rod Association (he had a 1938 Pontiac) and volunteered many hours with the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harry, Carl and Donald.
