L. DAVID YODER
Kalona
L. David Yoder passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 90 years.
L. David was born Oct. 30, 1924, the son of Frank D. and Elva (Kauffman) Yoder. He attended East Lincoln School and graduated from Chicago Technical College in 1963. L. David was an architect his entire life. On Sept. 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Leona Fern Brenneman.
L. David was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church, Kalona Building Committee and Washington County Foster Care Review board for 15 years. He taught Sunday school for 37 years and enjoyed gardening.
L. David Yoder is survived by a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Yoder of Johns Creek, Ga.; a granddaughter, Katherine Yoder of Johns Creek; a brother, Daniel E. Yoder of Kalona; a sister-in-law, Susie Hochstetler of Kalona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona, in 2013; a son, Leon, in 2014; a sister, Mary; and two brothers, Delmar and one in infancy.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Pleasantview Home Chapel in Kalona. A graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in East Union Cemetery, rural Kalona. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and Pleasantview Home.
