L.W. "Bill" Klosterman, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. Services: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Bill Klosterman and Kellie (Michael) Sauser, both of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Kathy Klosterman of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Danielle, Devan, Nicole and Mikayla; great-granddaughter, Princess Lucy; sister, Karen Losee of Des Moines; and former wife, Virginia Klosterman of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Derek and Daren Klosterman; and a sister, Sandy Matthews.
Bill was born Jan. 18, 1937, the son of Lewis and Hazel (Engelbrecht) Klosterman, in Remsen, Iowa. He married Virginia Harris on Sept. 5, 1961, in Rock Island, Ill. Bill was in the United States Army Reserves from 1961 to 1965.
Bill went to Harley- Davidson Mechanics School for repairing motorcycles and enjoyed racing motorcycles in the 1950s. He was a 35-year member of the Carpenters Local Union 308, where he was business manager for a time in the 1990s.
Bill enjoyed going to live music, gambling at Riverside Casino, watching C.J.'s men's 16" softball team, watching NASCAR and hanging out with all his friends at C.J. Sports Bar & Grill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to a fund to be established.
