L. Marlene Armstrong, 77, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence on Monday, March 27, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Carol Mart officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Marlene was born Feb. 12, 1940, to Clyde and Leola (Werner) Barnes in Eddyville, Iowa. She married Ronald Armstrong on June 24, 1977, at Clarence United Methodist Church. He passed away Dec. 10, 2014.
Marlene was a professional secretary and worked at IBM, as well as other office jobs in Tipton. She was an advocate for senior citizens and was interested in research for Huntington's disease. Marlene enjoyed her children and grandchildren, loved playing bingo and going out to eat with Ronnie.
She is survived by her daughters, Deb (Terry) Wagner of Clarence and Robin (Jim) Seago of Stanwood; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marcia Decker of Clarence.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and great-grandson, Marley.
