KYLE SMART Marion Kyle Lynn Smart, 23, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at his home in Marion from compli-cations of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The family will greet friends on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home by the Rev. John Albertson. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Kyle is survived by his parents, Joel and Teresa Smart of Marion; his brother, Dustin Smart of Cedar Rapids; his grandmother, Virginia Smart of Marion; his canine companion and service dog, Carter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Arlyne Williams; and his grandfathers, Norman Smart and William Young. Kyle was born Oct. 15, 1991, to Joel and Teresa (Young) Smart in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School and Kirkwood Community College, where he studied CAD and mechanical engineering. Kyle was a mentor for the Linn-Mar Robotics Team, an ambassador for the local MDA and a member of the Cedar Rapids Sky Hawks. Kyle was a huge fan of football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered for his love of flying remote-controlled airplanes.
