Kula, Robert
Robert Kula, 82, of Anamosa, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Prairieburg.

Surviving are his children, Colleen Kula, Janet Kula, Karen (Scott) Doyle and Steve Kula; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Cory, Nick, Stephanie, Katie, Jason, Stacy and Eric; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary (Loren) Zabokrtsky and Mary Jean (Dale) Mueller; and three brothers, Richard (Mary) Kula, Ron (Sharon) Kula and John Kula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen Burke (April 1987); a sister, Vivian Rickels; and four brothers Virgil, Raymond, LeRoy and Delbert Kula.
Robert S. Kula was born March 11, 1929, in Prairieburg, Iowa. He was the son of Raymond and Emma Holub Kula. Robert attended school in Prairieburg and Central City. Robert and Eileen Burke were united in marriage on Feb. 17, 1955 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. He served in the United States Army as a sergeant during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa for more than 30 years.
Robert can be remembered as a hard worker who loved to stay busy. He farmed most of his life and was part owner or Be-Right Plumbing for many years. When Robert wasn't working, one might remember seeing him in his truck, enjoying a cup of coffee and the scenery, down by the Wapsipinicon dam in Anamosa. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and gardening. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the donor choice.
