Kula, Frances 'Fran' M.
Frances “Fran” M. Kula, 92, of Marion, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Frances Margaret Kula was born on March 11, 1921, to John and Mary Laban in Delhi, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Earl J. Kula on Sept. 30, 1941, in Prairieburg, Iowa. He passed away in 1979. Fran enjoyed baking, dancing and playing cards. She was known as the “cookie lady.” Her joys included her flower garden and home, but most importantly her family. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Kathi) Kula of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mary Ann (Charles) Williams of Alburnett; and John (Trina) Kula of Center Point; grandchildren, Matt, Dan, Melissa and Kristel; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ruth Hinder, and Mary and Ken Lurth.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; son, Robert; three brothers; three sisters; her dog, Foxey; and cat, Becky.
