Kuch, Garry L.
Garry L. Kuch, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday. Burial: Marengo Cemetery.
Garry Lee Kuch was born April 18, 1941, near Blairstown, the son of Lyle and Beatrice (Wittenburg) Kuch. He graduated from Blairstown High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. On Sept. 9, 1967, he married Delores Koss in Iowa City. Garry farmed south of Blairstown for many years and also worked at Quad County Implement from 1997 until 2010. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, but his favorite pastime was attending his granddaughter's activities.
Garry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dee, Blairstown; son, Jeff (Diane) Kuch, Cedar Rapids; daughter, Becky (Mark) Ham, Iowa City; sister, Barb (Dean) Hayen, Scotch Grove; granddaughters, Katie and Lauren Kuch; brother-in-law, Dallas Cooling, Solon; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Lyle) Cooling, Solon, and Shirley (Jake) Jacobsen, Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Mary Cooling.
A memorial fund has been established.
