Kruger, David 'Tiny'
David “Tiny” Kruger, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 15, 2013, from complications with heart failure at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Tim Dyck. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Tami Kruger of Cedar Rapids; children, Jonathan Kruger of Chaska, Minn., Jessica Kruger of Waverly, and Savannah Kruger, Christopher Kruger, Rachel (Justin) Kern, Kelley (Kathryn) Wesley and Tanisha Wesley, all of Cedar Rapids; mother, Leona Nigh of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Donetta (Rob) Heathman of Cedar Rapids, Colleen Hersh of Manchester and Christine (Allen) McMillan of New Caney, Texas; grandchildren, Ellie Wesley, Emma and Jaxson Kern; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Kruger; brother, Jonathan Black; and stepfather, Lawrence Nigh.
David was born Jan. 27, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, son of Donald Kruger and Leona (Wilcox) Nigh. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1985. David worked at Cedar Rapids Tent and Awning, LL Pelling Co., and later at Duane Arnold Energy Center from 1990 to 2008. On March 27, 1999, he married Tami Kennedy in Cedar Rapids.
He was a member of the VFW Men's Auxiliary and Union IBEW 204. David enjoyed watching NASCAR and helping in the pits at Hawkeye Downs. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, gardening and most of all playing with his grandchildren.
