Krueger, Ronald Dee
Ronald Dee Krueger, 75, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Arnette Pint officiating. Private family graveside services will take place at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Ronald Dee Krueger was born May 22, 1937, in Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of Walter and Gladys (Attig) Krueger. He attended schools in and around Lone Tree, graduating in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Kral, on Jan. 29, 1956. The couple farmed just west of Lone Tree and he also worked for Testrake Brothers Grain and Elevator as a manager for years. Beverly died April 9, 2003. Ron married Barbara (Christensen) Fisher on March 25, 2006; they made their home in Iowa City.
Ron was an active member at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, a member of the Masons, OES, Lions, and the Lone Tree Bowling League (Thursday nights at the alley!). He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, took up golf in later years, but most of all he loved being with family and friends; he was always the one smiling in the group!
His family includes his wife, Barbara; Ron's sons, Kent Krueger and his wife, Lori, of Littleton, Colo., and Kurt Krueger of Lone Tree; grandson, Joshua Krueger of Littleton, Colo.; his mother, Gladys Krueger of Lone Tree; four brothers, Duane Krueger of Lone Tree, Alan Krueger (Judy) of New Martinsville, W.Va., Dwight Krueger (Julie) of Nichols and Ray Krueger of Australia; and two stepsons and their families, Philip Fisher III “Pip” and his wife, Carol, of Madrid, Iowa and Steven Fisher and his wife, Beth, of Pella.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Walter; and his wife, Beverly (Kral) Krueger.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Ron's family and his services.
Memorial donations can be made in Ron's memory to St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Iowa City or Iowa City Hospice.
Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web at www.gayandciha.com.
