Krueger, Delbert E.
Delbert E. Krueger, 87, of Riverside, formerly of the Lone Tree area, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family graveside services will be held at the Lone Tree Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made in Delbert's memory to the Riverside First Responders or the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree.

Delbert was born June 29, 1922, in Iowa City, the son of John and Helen (Rasche) Krueger. He married Virginia L. Watkinson on June 8, 1944. For a number of years he worked for the John Deere dealer in Iowa City, before he started farming in the Lone Tree area. He farmed for over 60 years before retiring and moving to Riverside in 2005.
Delbert was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, board member on the Eastern Iowa Light & Power board for 18 years, a 50 year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and for over 28 years sold Pioneer Seeds.
His family includes his wife of 65 years, Virginia; children, Richard J. Krueger (Deanna) of Lone Tree, Ronald E. Krueger (Ginger) of Lone Tree, Merry J. Thomae (Jim) of Lone Tree, William F. Krueger of Iowa City, and Helen A. Ehlert of Iowa City; nine grandchildren, Todd, Michelle, Melissa, Ronald J., Rochelle, James, Dusty, Sonia and Craig; and eight great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Josie, Corey, Riley, Ayden, Tyler, Aubray and Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ellard and Merrill Krueger; and daughter-in-law, Carol Krueger.
