Koster Jr., Raymond P.
Raymond P. Koster Jr., 87, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Church on Northland. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Raymond Paul Koster Jr. was born Jan. 31, 1926, to Raymond Sr. and Lillian Koster in Brooklyn, N.Y. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Ray was united in marriage to Viola Kinnaman on Aug. 4, 1946, in New York City, N.Y. Ray was employed at Rockwell for 30 years. While he was there, he worked on the communication systems that put men on the moon. Ray enjoyed photography, gun smithing, trap and skeet shooting, and hunting. In the late 1950s, he won the Indiana State Pistol Championship. He was a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Viola; daughters, Annora “Ramona” McDougall of Cedar Rapids and Loretta (William Schmidt) Koster of Houston, Texas; grandson, Ian Koster; and grand cat, Star.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.
