Kosek, Eleanor
Eleanor Kosek, 91, passed away Jan. 7, 2011, in her home. Private family services will be held.
Survivors include four daughters, Leslie and Teena Kosek of Cedar Rapids, Ellie Kosek of Atlanta, Ga., and Kara Reese of Des Moines; a son, Kevin (Debra) Kosek of Solon; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Nadine Sproston of Indianapolis.
Eleanor was born March 19, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frederick and Dagmar (Christoffersen) Schneider. She graduated from Grant High School in Cedar Rapids. On June 15, 1940, Eleanor was united in marriage to Frederick Kosek, who preceded her in death in 2003. Eleanor spent many years raising her five children, always putting others' needs before her own. She enjoyed sewing, music, drawing and had a great appreciation for all art. Eleanor cherished the time she spent working with Grant Wood designing furniture.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
