Koopmann, Margaret F.
Margaret F. Koopmann, 82, of River Bend Assisted Living, Cascade, and formerly of Epworth, and Placid, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Services for Margaret will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Placid, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Friends and relatives of Margaret may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m.
Margaret was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Cascade, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Kurt) Hosch. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Cascade. On Nov. 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Koopmann at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandma for 57 years. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, sewing, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Margaret was a life long member of St. John's Parish in Placid and its Altar and rosary society and was a current member of St. Patrick's Parish, Epworth. She was also a past member of the Catholic Daughters of the America's Presentation Court No. 1460.
She is survived by seven daughters, Marilyn (John) Taft, Phyllis (Phil) Mausser, Nancy (Tom) Kramer, Cindy (Randy) McDermott, LuAnn (Tim) Cox, Linda (Pat) Besler, all of Epworth, and Sheila (John) Beringer of Cascade; seven sons, Chris (Sherry) Koopmann of Epworth, Roger Koopmann of Dyersville, Mike (Kim) Koopmann of Epworth, Leonard (Jody) Koopmann of Dubuque, Dean (Jennifer) Koopmann of Anamosa, Tim (Shelley) Koopmann of Marion, and Donnie (Reyne) Koopmann Jr. of Epworth; 43 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie Koopmann of Delhi, and Katie (Larry) Knipper of Dyersville; and one brother, Harry Hosch of Cascade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary (LeRoy) Trumm; and three brothers, Eddie, George and John Hosch.
