Marilyn Theresa (Furmanski) Konkowski, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Luke's Living Center West Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Marilyn's funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon. The visitation will be Friday, Jan. 24, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon. Burial: St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon.
Surviving Marilyn are her brother, Joseph Furman of Cold Spring, Minn.; three children, Kathleen (Bob) DuChene of Anoka, Minn., Paul Konkowski (Kim Raim) of Mount Vernon and Marie (Pat) Cullen of Oak Grove, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Mary Beth, Ethan, Andrew, Sarah and Jeana.
Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents and husband, George Konkowski.
Marilyn was born April 7, 1936, in Chicago to
Joseph and Pauline Soden Furmanski. She
graduated in 1954 from Steinmetz High School in Chicago. She married George Konkowski in Chicago in 1956. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1968 with their three children.
Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed dearly by all of her friends and family.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Living Center West Nursing Home, especially the RNs, CNAs, activities coordinators and food service for all of their kindness shown to Marilyn. They made Mom's stay these last two years so pleasant.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial scholarship fund has been established for her grandchildren at Hills Bank and Trust, Mount Vernon,
Iowa.
