Margaret Marie Smith was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Iowa City, the daughter of Lewis and Annie (Palmer) Smith. She attended schools in Iowa City where she graduated with the class of 1936 from City High School. On August 21, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Kohl in Iowa City. For a number of years she was the chief telephone operator for the University Hospitals. Margaret loved being a wife, mother, and later in years, a grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, fishing with Lloyd, travels with family, and on a number of occasions following the Iowa Hawkeyes to regular season games or the Rose Bowl! A special thanks to the staff at Greenwood Manor for the loving care they provided to our mother and grandmother, thank you!
