Kofron, Gladys Anastazie
Gladys Anastazie Kofron, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died at her home Saturday morning, July 9, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, where a rosary begins at 5:30 p.m.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 64 years, Milo; two sons, Ronald (Lawana) and Bernie, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Shane (Cindy) of Swisher, and Thad of Cedar Rapids; and four great-grandchildren, Chayse, Peyton and Torrie Kofron, Anamosa, and Kyann Kofron, Swisher.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anastazie Blin; three brothers, Edward, Wesley and William Blin; and three sisters, Agnes Roseberry, Eleanora Wyman and Bernice Dennis.
Gladys was born May 20, 1916, in rural Alburnett. She married Milo B. Kofron on Jan. 28, 1947, in Algona. Gladys worked for seven years at Wilson-Sinclair Meat Packing Plant before her marriage. Following her marriage, she was a full-time homemaker for her family. Gladys enjoyed decorating cakes and dancing, especially the polka. She also enjoyed trips to Tama to gamble.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
