Koecke, Stephen M.
Stephen M. Koecke, 60, of 2029 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Dubuque, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at his home after he was lovingly cared for by his brother, David, and his daughter, Stephanie, during his illness. Memorial services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Ill. Inurnment: Savanna Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Koecke of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Darrell and Dorothy Koecke, and a brother, David, all of Dubuque; and a niece, Jennifer Koecke of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by infant twin sisters and his grandparents.
Stephen was born March 22, 1951, in Savanna, Ill. He graduated in 1969 from Dubuque (Iowa) Senior High School, where he won the Mississippi Valley Conference Championship in wrestling at 154 pounds. He also graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and Diesel School in Des Moines.
Stephen worked at various jobs, including Hup Electric and most recently Fusion. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, travel, riding his Harley, his dogs and cats, and especially time spent with his family and many friends.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Luke's Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
