Koch, Mary Jo
Mary Jo Koch, 62, of Monticello, Iowa, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, after a sudden illness.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ed Moreano. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mary Jo was born June 7, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Coberly) Pederson. She was a CNA and Home Health Aide in Monticello who enjoyed working with people with disabilities and the elderly. In her free time she loved to be outdoors in her garden, cook and bake, and spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, David (Frances) Smith of Dubuque, Heather (Tony) Hunstad of Davenport, and Joel (Lindsey) Hass-Koch of Shellsburg; her mother, Mary Pederson of Monticello; five grandchildren; siblings, Chris (Vern) Steffen of Racine, Wis., and Katie (Jim) Bronemann, Lisa (Dennis) Freitas and Cass Pederson, all of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, in 2010; two brothers, an infant brother, Joseph Jr., and Neil.
Memorials are preferred to Heather Hunstad.
