Knottnerus, Barbara J. 'Barb'

Barbara J. “Barb” Knottnerus, 71, of Iowa City, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Pastor Brent Hartwig will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing's. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City.

Barb was born July 16, 1940, the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Nuessbaum) Feehan. A lifelong resident of Iowa City, Barb married George Knottnerus on Sept. 28, 1957.

She worked as a telephone operator at the University of Iowa for many years, retiring in 2003.

Barb was a member of the Iowa City Women of the Moose. She enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with family and going to auto races.

Survivors include her children, Rick Knottnerus of Oelwein, Terry Knottnerus of Tiffin, Randy Knottnerus (Cher) of Kalona, Marc Knottnerus (Mary) of Iowa City and Mary Kaye Allen (Ron) of Tiffin; grandchildren, Sean, Nicole, Justin, Amanda, Taren, Kristen, Chris, Derik and Tina; and two great-grandchildren, Faith and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and a brother, Dick Feehan.
