Knott, Gary E.
Gary E. Knott, 58, lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 12, 2010, with family and friends at his side. A celebration of Gary's life will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, at the American Legion Zach Wheat Post, 852 American Legion Dr., Sunrise Beach, Mo., from 2 to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the home of Joe Blando, 9601 Raytown Rd., Kansas City, Mo., from 2 to 6 p.m. Family and friends may share their stories and tales of GK. His body was cremated.
He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 6, 1952, to Eldon and Hazel Knott. He loved life and living on the water. He could sit for hours (with a cocktail of course), just watching the activity on the water. He enjoyed fishing and playing with his grandkids, boating and being with people.
He leaves his wife, Sheri of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Brian Morris of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, William (BJ) and Kimberly Cohen of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren whom he adored, Sam and Lindsey Morris and Jacob Cohen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Jim Lahr and Carol and Steve Strong, of Cedar Rapids; two nieces, Gretchen and Erin; a nephew, Weston; two great-nieces; one great-nephew, and also will be missed by a countless number of family and friends.
Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lake Regional Cancer Center, Osage Beach, Mo.
Arrangements have been placed under the care of Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Mo. Condolences may be forwarded to the family at
