Knepper, Robert J.
Robert J. Knepper, 61, of 64 Aeries Ave., Cascade, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Aug. 11, 2010, at his home in the comfort of his wife and children. Friends and relatives of Bob may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at p.m. Services for Bob will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Bob was born June 23, 1949, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Francis and LauraBelle (Wolfe) Knepper. He received his education at the former St. Mary's School and Aquin High School in Cascade and was a 1967 graduate of Western Dubuque High School. On June 28, 1969. he was united in marriage to Ginny Weller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade. Bob farmed with his father until 1995. He also drove truck for several local businesses, until starting his own business, Bob Knepper Trucking.
When Bob wasn't working he spent his time with family and friends. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes. While children and grandchildren activities always took priority, he often sought time for Harley rides and trips with his wife. On their 40th wedding anniversary, his whole family spent a week in South Carolina where many memories were made. Bob will be remembered by many for his terrific sense of humor and quick wit. His family is thankful for his lessons in forgiveness and treating all others as you would like to be treated. He was loved and adored. He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny Knepper of Cascade; three children, Shelly (Glen) Gardner of Durango, Rob (Tracey) Knepper of Cascade and Jeremy (Andrea) Knepper of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Sam, Joe, Tom, Anthony and Peter; three siblings, Jean (Jerry) Rausch, Rich Knepper and Jan (Terry) Frasher, all of Cascade; his mother-in-law, Meda Weller of McGregor; a brother-in-law, Morris (Sandy) Weller of McGregor; and two sisters-in-law, Marie (Bill) King of New Orleans, and Sheryl Weller of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Ervin Weller; a brother-in-law, Neal Weller; and a niece, Jill Rausch.
